Since time immemorial, women have been oppressed, exploited, and deprived of their rights by the male-dominated society. The status of women has improved somewhat over time. However, in a patriarchal society, the issue of gender equality isn’t considered yet. Women are far behind politically, economically and socially in consideration of social norms, values and culture. Till today, they rely on men for economic and familial decisions. Women are lagging far behind men in their participation in the employment and decision-making process. However, due to ICT development, government guidelines have been issued for payment of salaries, allowances, and incentives of working women through bank accounts. Women are bound to open a bank account. Due to this, women's financial inclusion in the banking sector has increased significantly. Again, women are getting opportunities to become entrepreneurs. Women's participation in trade and production processes has created employment opportunities for women. Women's financial independence and participation in the decision-making process are increasing gradually. As a result, some elite women are enjoying freedom. But rural, low-income, poor and needy women were in the darkness; they are still in that darkness. It is true that even if women get employment, financial freedom and control, women can’t enjoy equal freedom with men. This situation still exists in our society as there has been no change in the social system, thought-consciousness, cultural and moral values. Women are still victims of gender inequality because of poverty and patriarchal societies. My book is based on the theme of gender inequality and tries to find out the root barriers and solutions for establishing gender equality. My book also includes some richly tasteful literary essays so that readers can enjoy a variety of flavours of different aspects.
